CMBL GAMECHANGER CHEAT SHEET
Quick Guide for New Managers
GameChanger is the official scoring and stat record for the CMBL.
Playoff eligibility, pitching records, and league statistics are all based on GameChanger.
1. WHO SCORES THE GAME
- Home Team: Responsible for scoring the game in GameChanger or by traditional paper book.
- Away Team: Should keep a book as well and verify the final score before leaving the field.
2. BEFORE THE GAME STARTS
Make sure these three things are correct before the first pitch:
- Lineup is entered
- Starting pitcher is assigned
- Live stream is started (if streaming)
3. SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutions must be entered before the pitch is thrown.
Example:
- Player A leaves the game
- Player B enters
- Enter the substitution before the next pitch
If a sub is entered late, stats and plate appearances can become inaccurate.
4. PITCHING CHANGES
When a new pitcher enters the game:
- Tap Substitution
- Select the new pitcher
- Assign them before the first pitch
GameChanger tracks innings automatically once the pitcher is correct.
5. BASIC SCORING
For most plays, you only need to record:
- Hit
- Walk
- Strikeout
- Groundout
- Flyout
- Error
Don’t overthink it. The basics cover most situations.
6. AFTER THE GAME
Before leaving the field:
- Confirm the final score
- Check pitching totals
- Tap End Game
Ask the opposing manager to quickly review the box score.
This helps prevent stat corrections later.
CMBL-SPECIFIC GAME SITUATIONS
7-Run Inning Rule/ Ending Innings Early
When the 7th run scores:
- Record the play normally.
- Select End Half Inning in GameChanger.
Do not keep scoring additional outs once the run limit is reached.
Courtesy Runners
Courtesy runners are allowed in CMBL games.
When using a courtesy runner:
- Tap the runner on base
- Select Substitution
- Choose the player entering as the courtesy runner.
The original player remains in the batting order.
Mid-Inning Pitching Changes
If a pitching change happens mid-inning:
- Enter the substitution before the next pitch.
- GameChanger will correctly assign outs to each pitcher.
If a Mistake Happens
Mistakes happen while scoring.
Best practice:
- Fix it immediately if noticed during the game.
- If unsure, communicate with the opposing manager after the inning.
Avoid making major stat edits long after the game has ended.
FINAL TIP
Have at least four people on your team who know how to score a game in GameChanger. Everyone should know how to use it.
Managers should not be the only person who understands the app.
If you have questions about GameChanger, contact the league before game day so we can help.
