After weeks of rainouts, the CMBL got back on the field at Godwin. The down time did not dull the players excitement. In a spirited contest that featured ringing drives off the bats of Joe Seme, Bear Estler and Sean Matuszewsky, the score was tied at 6 after regulation. Each team scored a run in the first shootout inning with Hawks 3B Chris Natale making a leaping stab of a liner destined to break open the game and ‘Tides C Greg Upchurch making a diving, tumbling catch of a foul pop to preserve the tie. The game went to the second shootout inning which started with 2 runners in scoring position. The Hawks played great defense, executing two rundowns to garner outs. Nevertheless, the visiting Riptides broke through to take a 2 run lead. The Hawks would not give up. With 2 men on manager Ray Dixon slashed a laser to right field, driving in one run. The tying run was cut down at the plate by a beautiful throw by RF Britton Upchurch to C Dan Miller who made a leaping catch and swipe tag of the runner at home. WP Steve Goodman then recorded the final out to secure the victory
